There’s enough to stress about during pregnancy, from planning the nursery to educating yourself on what’s soon to happen. To help make this transition a little bit easier I’ve provided some links to prenatal courses that are absolutely free!! You heard that right…free!
Prenatal courses during pregnancy help mommies understand what’s going on with their bodies and babies’ development; the classes further explain what to expect during labor, labor techniques, pain management, potential complications, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. Every class is different, though, offering coverages of different topics. However, they may not all suit your labor technique/preference, which is another thing to keeping in mind.
1. Pampers
Taught by experienced registered nurses, this prenatal course offers nine prenatal lessons, which include breastfeeding. The program looks like a short but comprehensive program. This program cuts out the nonsense and gets to the point.
Cons: Classes are short, ranging from 7 to 15 minutes.
Price: $0
2. Lamaze
A more condensed program. There are five lessons offered covering everything involving labor, from coping techniques to pain management. Their website also offers other classes for purchase if interested, which includes the breastfeeding basics class.
Cons: Does not provide breastfeeding, prenatal nutrition, or postpartum care classes.
Price: $0
3. Baby Center
This prenatal class offers seven chapters, each chapter containing episodes. It seems like a lot; however, the episodes are only a few minutes long. The chapters cover everything from labor to decisions on the care you will need to make about your newborn. They even provide a pre-delivery checklist, which is an excellent option for new mommies. This prenatal course is comprehensive, to the point option for moms to be.
Cons: The videos do cover breastfeeding, but only in a short 3-minute video. May need to purchase a separate breastfeeding video
Price: $0
4. Tinyhood
This prenatal course offers many different classes to explore, from childbirth to parenting. However, their breastfeeding course is one to explore. It’s an in-depth explanation of the anatomy of breasts producing milk to challenges in storing and increasing milk production. There are five lessons covered, each containing multiple videos lasting only a couple of minutes in length. Mommies can walk away feeling more confident and comfortable in knowing what to expect and how to prepare.
Cons: The breastfeeding course is the only free course option; the other prenatal courses offered are for purchase only.
Price: $0
